IN WHICH THE QUOTIDIAN BECOMES HEROIC
In Which the Quotidian Becomes Heroic investigates through macro photography how our perception of and attitude towards everyday (quotidian) objects can be transformed by light and (extreme closeup) perspective, so that only a small part of the object is revealed. The established theatrical method of ‘qualitative transformation’ through the controlled use of light, viewpoint and perspective is here deployed on a sub-miniature stage. By playing close attention to the materiality of the objects – their surfaces and textures – mythical, heroic qualities are suggested and narratives emerge.
